About the Club
Garrett Morris’ Downtown Blues & Comedy Club, like our host Garrett Morris, is a complete original. Since being established by Morris and Kevin Garnier in 2007, Garrett Morris’ Downtown Blues & Comedy Club has survived several moves and many other challenges. But, while the venerable club has had many homes since opening the doors, our soul and our vibe have never wavered.
Besides being the only stand-up comedy venue in downtown L.A. throughout its existence, Garrett Morris’ Downtown Blues & Comedy Comedy Club has become respected throughout the entertainment industry as a “must-play” location on the stand-up circuit. From George Lopez to Wayne Brady to Jamie Kennedy, Doug Stanhope, Luenell, Margret Cho, and other top comedians, Garrett Morris’ Downtown Blues & Comedy Comedy Club has featured a weekly lineup of some of the country’s most talented stand-up performers. Whether young or old, established or up-and-coming, we attract talented comedians and musicians of all types who enjoy spending an evening working alongside Morris, a true entertainment legend.
Every night at Garrett Morris’ Downtown Blues & Comedy Club is a unique experience. On some nights the club presents a non-stop line-up of some of the funniest and most outrageous stand-up comedians you’ll ever hear. On other nights we will borrow from Morris’ New Orleans roots and mix the comedy with some of the most stirring and soulful blues melodies this side of Memphis, providing an eclectic mix of hilarious comedy and impassioned harmonies that merge to form an unrivaled entertainment experience.
As the resurgence of downtown L.A. moves forward, Morris and Garnier have put their own blood, sweat, and tears into making Garrett Morris’ Downtown Blues & Comedy Club an iconic element of the downtown L.A. entertainment scene. Their shared vision and their new Spring Street location brings long-missing relevance and visitors to a part of the city that the hipsters are just beginning to get hip to.
