Laura Kightlinger stands out as a true original in the world of comedy. Her individual style and vision echoes through the incredibly popular characters on the hit NBC series Will and Grace. In addition to her title as consulting producer on Will and Grace, she’s earned a recurring role on the show as Nurse Shelia. Her first book, entitled Quick Shots of False Hope, was described by the New York Times Book Review as a “memorable, disturbing and darkly comic debut.” Laura is writing a TV pilot based on the book. Laura’s unique talent has landed her film roles in Run Ronnie Run (with David Cross), Pootie Tang (starring Chris Rock), the Farrelly Brothers’ Shallow Hal, Melvin Goes to Dinner, directed by Bob Odenkirk, and the Eddie Murphy film Daddy Daycare. Kightlinger recently finished directing her first documentary, entitled Sixty Spins Around the Sun, chronicling the New York City street movement to repeal the Rockefeller Drug Laws. Laura garnered the Director’s Award at the Black Maria Film Festival for a short film she also wrote and starred in called Dependable People. In addition to writing for Will and Grace for the past five years, Laura has written for Roseanne, Dennis Miller Live, and Saturday Night Live, where she was also a featured performer. Laura was a cast member of Roseanne’s sketch comedy series Saturday Night Special on Fox. She has made guest appearances on Tenacious D, the Greatest Band in the World (HBO), Dr Katz, and Mr Show. As a stand up, Laura has been featured in two HBO specials and six Comedy Central Specials. Kightlinger recently created an animated series about standups in prison for Comedy Central, tentatively titled Alteantive Women Comics in Prison.
